Class Description
Skill Level:
Beginner (Needlework and Embroidery experience not required, but helpful)
Threadpainting is an embroidery technique that uses colored thread and staggered stitches to blend shades and create realistic, painterly designs.
Students will start with a base photo (as seen) as a model and create their own threadpainted work of art. Each student will use a variety of threads, beads and everyday objects to transform their needlepoint canvas into a unique mixed media design. The teacher will guide students in the exploration of shape, color and texture, encouraging each participant to think outside the box.
Allergy Warning: Pistachio shells (soaked in dishwashing soap) will be available for student use.

Teacher Bio
Cara Sue Richard attended art colleges and earned two Associate of Arts degrees. The only resume she carries with her is her life stories. Her creative thinking has been judged by so many and she says with a straight face “I am dyslexic; I see the world differently.”
She creates each of her pieces and classes with the kindest, sweetest outlook: all emotion…full of passionate lines, colors, shapes and texture…to the point you can see what she is saying.

Cancellation Policy
There will be no refunds given on classes canceled by the student after the registration deadline (one week before the start of class). A student who cancels will receive class handouts and any materials that are supplied by the instructor. If you are unable to come, please let the instructor know as soon as possible.
Class Registration Policy
Registration and payment MUST be done at least a week before the date of the class; this provides a minimal amount of time for the instructors to prepare for the class. Registration can be done online. No late sign-ups are permitted unless approved by the instructor in advance of the class; no walk-ins allowed. Contact the Education Team for further assistance. Minimum of 4 students required for this class.
