Class Description

Skill Level: Beginner-intermediate and willingness to be patient and learn, no previous experience needed.

Beaders often build their work around a unique centerpiece – a pendant. This is your chance to try your hand at making your own. Whether you are a beginner or experienced with polymer clay, you will learn how to make beautiful blends of color to create millefiori canes and create textured focal pieces using molds and texture tools. The kit includes a selection of polymer clay (7 to 8-2 oz. blocks), a clay blade, some scrap clay, deli paper and plastic sheets for storing clay, use of various cutters, molds, and texture tools.

About Kashi Gata: I first learned about this technique from Nan Roche, author of The New Clay – the first book written about polymer clay. It involves using unique wooden molds originally developed as butter molds by the Japanese. Nan has givem me her blessing to teach this technique.

About creating canes: millefiori (meaning millions of flowers) canes are a traditional Italian glass method. The process creates images and patterns within a cane or log of clay.
